A feeling of triumph was originally created to portray a woman who fought and conquered patriarchal views created by men that still exist in the foundation of today’s society. After finishing the piece and taking a step back I realized the power the piece held and felt it was important that every viewer put their own personal meaning behind the piece. I want everyone who sees this work to decide for themselves what battle was just won and conquered.
A woman’s mood is an exploration of color and emotion as a self portrait.I allowed myself to be very free in my brush strokes with this piece to create movement. Deciding which features need to stay in the piece and which to not put in was interesting because I tend to be very detail oriented. The abstract work was out of my comfort zone but definitely made me want to delve deeper into more abstract art.
Shoes is a favorite painting of mine. I saw the boxes sitting on the shelf in my closet and decided to challenge myself to see if I could make this disorganized random stack of boxes into a piece of art. I thoroughly enjoyed painting this piece and taking the time to
Vibrance is a still life of various forms of paper pinned to a black backdrop. This piece was used to hone in on my ability to replicate color from what I saw. I wanted to create a very balanced image making sure that the viewers eye easy moved around the canvas.
